This was bought at same time as lion to hoover up after her, also for sand sifting duties as both tanks here rely on sand beds to aid filtration..
Bought as sand goby...looking like a juvenile dragon goby ( Ambylygobius phalaena), any ideas guys and girls...........

No tail spots though, so wondering if another member of this family or do the spots develop with age???

Hi got one of these at the weekend was told it was a watcher goby. but thanks to ben1987 has been identified as

Amblygobius bynoensis
Whitespot head goby

or

Amblygobius stethophthalmus
Head-stripe goby

Think same fish..

Can't remember the true name for it but i can tell you now that TMC do actually sell them as Watchman Gobies, however... they also sell TRUE Watchman gobies that look totally different, lot darker for a start!

most common name that i've seen is dragon goby. i believe the scientific name is Amblygobius phalaena.

these gobies are great imo and experience and do a great job of sifting sand, although like all sand sifters they tend to move a lot of sand and small ornaments and shells.

actually with closer inspection it looks more like a Amblygobius Stethophthalmus like zipzap said.

Yep i'd say it'ss the latter too...lovely little guy and constantly busy looking food in sand bed when not biting the hairs on my arm if in tank,lol....
