I have had my plec for a while now, and he has been in my new cycled tank with myother fish for about 3 Months now.
Recently he has been coming out a lot more than normal, really showing himself.
He has never seemed distressed or anything, just getting on, doing his job.
The last couple of days i have noticed he has patches of dullness on him. Where he is normally really dark, he has patches of white and grey.
Mid tail mostly, but today more all over. He has been hiding a lot and today looked very frail, his normally very pert top fin was down, and he just ddidnt seem right. i moved the bog wood out of the way and he seemed very distressed, staying upside down for a few seconds before swimming off behind the other bit of wood.
I'm very worried about him and feel that this could be the end for him.
Is there anything i can do to help him.
I have tested water parameters and everything seems fine...
Any ideas??

Right, to help others advise, we will need to know;

Size of tank (ltr/gals)
Ammonia
Nitrate
Nitrite
pH
Temp of tank

And any photos if you can?

Thanks x

How many other fish are in the 12 gallon tank.

It's not sounding to good i'm afraid.

Greyish white patches can be columnaris to parasites.
Any excess slime on the fish body.

What's the make of the test kit you are using?

api master kit mate.
Unfortunately Mr Plec is no longer with us, he got flushed down the toilet yesterday...

Gonna have to invest in a new one.
Just for your information there are 2 danios (1 leopard and one zebra), 3 dalmation mollys, 4 neons, 4 glowlight, and a red tailed black shark.

I did have two kuhli loches but they seem to have died also, without me knowing.
Come to think of it, that has probably poisoned the lower part of the water maybe???

The tanks ovestocked.
Red tailed sharks need at least a 40 gallon tank.

Bless Him.
R.I.P.
