I posted the other day about a betta I rescued? Well he went from being really happy to utterly destroyed almost overnight, I thought his fins were just tatty from being nipped but turns out it's fin rot (or both) he's got almost no tail left, is more or less floating on his side all the time and is hardly breathing.

I feel really bad, was it wrong to rescue him? Maybe the stress of being moved made his condition worse? I've put him in a goldfish bowl(it's 6Litres) at the mo because he was struggling to swim and ended up just floating most of the time so I thought a smaller space might be better, is this wrong? He did perk up a bit when I put him in the bowl and I thought he might be getting better but over the course of the day he's gotten worse again.

I really don't think he's going to make it, his belly looks really grey, I keep thinking he's dead but when I get closer his gills are still going, should I euthanise him as I think he's suffering now?

It doesn't sound good. It is very unlikely he will improve no matter what you do and probably the kindest thing is to euthanize. Bad luck. Unfortunately not all good intentions work out for the best.
