Oscars are notoriously clumsy, and Aristotle has proven that he is no exception. I cleaned the tank today and moved Marie's rock (more like a boulder, these things are huge) to clean behind it, and apparently Aristotle thought it was far enough from the tank wall now that he could hide behind it too... but I guess he bumped it and managed to tip it over on himself. I heard some thrashing around in the tank and when I looked my lovely 10" oscar was nowhere in sight, but then I saw the poor guy with that huge rock sitting on his head :/

He's not seriously injured, just a few missing scales and scratches from when he was trying to free himself, but I'm sure he'll be sore in the morning. Is there anything I can do to help speed his healing process? I already added some Stress Coat to the water. He knew I was trying to help him I guess, because he let me stroke him a bit after I removed the rock (reflex reaction on my part... gotta mother the poor hurt wittle baby  )

Oh, poor Aristotle. :( He's such a cutie, I hope he is feeling better soon!

Add a little salt to the water to help heal the wound.
Also, keep the lights dimmed so he can relax and take time to heal
Don't worry too much about it though, I dropped my filter(big heavy one) on ym jewel cichlid(about 3 inches long) he had a few bruizes on the head that were visible, i just seperated him from the rest of the fish and with in a week he was fine
Good Luck

He's already feeling a little better today I think, and is using the pectoral fin the rock kinda smashed, but the poor thing has a huge bruise on his head. He won't go near the rock now, which is pretty funny to me

yeah a little stress coat and bumped up water changes will go a long way

Thanks guys, he's on the mend now :)
