Pond Beneficial Bacteria In The Aquarium

Ive seen for sale "beneficial bacteria" in a bottle. its intended for ponds to speed up the cycling process. could this be used in aquariums as well? this is what it looks like...

Its probably the same as the stuff that are intended for aquariums, but everybody thinks its a waste of time and money. So I reckon you could use it, but like I said wether it works or not, not really known.

Thing is, the bacteria you need feed on ammonia. There's no ammonia in the bottle and it's probably been months since it was packed. Result=bottle of dead bacteria.

hmm... good point. would it hurt to just dump the whole bottle in my pond then? that way any possible remaining bacteria can have a shot?

I've read in a book, that some bottles of bacteria have a food source added in the bottle to increase its shelf life. Not sure wether that works or not. But in answer to your question, Yes, you can add it to your pond, it won't do any bad all's it can do is good! Or nothing at all!
