Polystyrene

I think he means for under the tank,

I would say about 1 cm will be fine for under the tank

I only have a little bit of wooden floor underlay on my 90g which is about 5mm thick and have had no problems, so I don't think you need 2cm of polyester on a 22g tank :S

Ill second Jay Jay on that. I only have underlay under my 70gal. Would have thought 1cm of poly would be more than find for 20gal.

Yes its always better to have some thing in case you have any lumps and bums that could crack your tank when the water is poured into it.

also i know that some tanks such as some juwel tanks have what's called a 'floating base' where the actual glass doesnt touch the surface the tank is sitting on or something :S

ten mil is fine...

now to make your life easy, b&q stock some ceiling tiles made of polystyrine, and it 2 or 3 quid for more trhan enough to do 5 of your tanks
