After just visiting my lfs, I noticed a dead tank mate in one of the displays...... after pointing this out to the guy in charge, he simply said " oh its ok, we leave them in for the other fish to feed off." Surely this cannot be right or healthy for the balance of ones aquarium???

any body else do this sort of thing, or do you take them out as soon as?? :good:

The problem with dead fish is how did it die in the first place disease or non disease factors. Also a dead fish will cause ammonia levels to rises. However if it died from non disease reasons it is safe for the other fish to feed on, providing the fish will in fact eat it, Pleco's for example love to eat dead fish. If the fish died from disease it should be removed immediately and all other fish thoroughly checked over.
