Plz Help Me :o Just Got A New Male German Blue Ram ^^

heya!

Just got back from wyvale And brought a new Male German Blue Ram who is bigger than the female I have.

I put him in, after a good hour, with tank water being put in every 10-15mins.

I put him in, and straight away for 5 mins (and still now) so around 10, the two have basically been facing opposite sides, and swimming and rubbing against each other.

The male shot up in color considerable when released from the bag.

The also faced each other dead on, and looked like kissing, they kissed alot =/

is this normal?

the female's belly hasn't pinked up yet, I was told by you guys I had a female btw ^^ I can tell by fins also, i got told by someone here that she would pink up in the presence of a male.

whats going on ?

Its territorial behaviour, they will be establishing who is the more dominant.

If you do have a m/f pair, you might get lucky and they pair up, however, having one of each sex does not guarantee an actual pair, they can be picky about their partners.

the male goes to the female, and she will stay there, or she will swim of lol ^^

woke up, had a look!

as you know the SAE and the smaller female GBR are like best mates...

i found the bigger GBR at the top in the plants, then he came down, and got chased by the small female, this male is large aswell!!

then the SAE went to get rid of him =(

I hope they sort something out =(

Remove the fish (put them in a bucket/bag them) and do a complete tank re-arrange, create more caves, territories, then re-introduce the fish, the newest male 1st, then the female, then the SAE. See if it settles them down.

I will do, I might have to wait about an hour or two, gotta do some revision, I might as well do a water change and gravel vac aswell.

done a HUGE cleanout

40% water change for a whole gravel vac!

trimmed plants, rescaped! and the back looks bare, but my plant fill fill it out in a week knowing it lol

taken me 1.5 hours on a 20gal haha

anyway!

the little dominant ram is now in the corner, had a good swim, NO FIGHTS YET!

All the other fishes are huddled at the front, i think they will relax in an hour, once everything is back to normal etc
