Just dropped half a pleco wafer in the tank, hoping that the fact that lights are out would mean the Platy's would ignore it - however, a shrimp has grabbed it and is running around the tank being chased by the other three!!

How can I make sure that there is some food left over for my Plecs?

I really don't know but I just had to say that for some strange reason I thought of the late Benny Hill when I read your post

It was a bit Benny Hill-ish to be honest..... clambering over Bogwood and everything!

They are still doing it now!!!

Cook the shrimps?

They sound like crafty buggers them shrimps. Perhaps put a bit more in than the plec will eat. Surely the other fish, shrimps etc can't steal that much food away from it
.

I think if the pleco wanted it bad enough he'd go get it from the shrimp or anyone who has it.

You can put cucumber in there for him also. leave the rine on and throw a slice in and take the rine out in the morning.

That is a funny visual to think of them chasing that shrimp. lol You should video it.

Yep - good point. I'll track down some weights tomorrow for the cucumber. Hopefully shrimps are vegetable-phobic!!

I say throw in an avacado with a piece of lettus and a quarter slice of brown bread drizzled in thousand island dressing and give those shrimps a wake up call  (do you not think we are taking you predicament seriosly :hey: )

Shrimps rule! Mine dive in to the middle of a Corydoras feeding frenzy and run off with the food. They are possibly the smartest critters in my tank.

Well - I dropped another half wafer in last thing last night in the absence of cucumber, and ho! I wake up this morning to a very proud shrimpy still on top of the Bogwood clutching it madly!!!

He must have fought off hes peers, Pleco's and Platy's through the night for that thing....

hehe, Mine do exactly the same, they just grab what they can and scoot off to an easily defensible location and feast! They are fantastic though and I wouldn't change them for anything.

Update - cucumber too big for Shrimps to run away with, so there was still some there this morning - I think the plecs have had some, though theres not much eaten!

Doresy - I'm glad my shrimps have kept you entertained - however you didn't need to post in there - i could hear you from Somerset cos you're SHOUTING!
