Pleco For My Tank

i had a much smaller tank. put him in the 72 litre today. Will look into rehoming him now tho, dont have the room for a 200 litre tank. boo hoo
how about

6 neons
6 guppys
2 garoumi
and my little fella till he gets big (if he gonna get big)

i like the red tail sharks but your gonna tell me i cant have one arent ya?

oh and can i add shrimp to eat any green algea?? That why i wanted a pleco

yep! amano shrimp eat the most algae, and they have an extremely low bioload. :good:

I don't recommend 2 gourami. I just had to take 1 back as they were fighting so much. Most recommend 2 females to one male. 2 males fight and if you get a pair the male drives the female mad!

he a hoplo by looks of things. is that bad

Quite, as hopplos can grow to 18 inches....... Almost cirtainly longer than your tank, if it is indeed a 72 liter. I would advise you to either rehome him, or get a significantly bigger tank for him. Regretably, no you also won't be advised by us to get a RTBS, as they grow to 6-8 inches and can pick on smaller fish, and those shrimp you now have your eye on.

EDIT: appologies, it would apear I have stuffed up sizes. Planet catfish, see post below states their size to be just below 5 inches. These should be fine in your tank. All the best

thank god i started to hyperventilate!!! Thanks u guys so ditch my baby (boo hoo) get 4 more neons and 2 or 3 gourami?

which gouramis are you thinking of keeping?
honey or sparkling gouramis should work well as would dwarfs if you can find some healthy ones, three-spot (opaline, gold, etc.) gouramis however may show too much aggression due to the size of the tank.

also the smaller gouramis will only get to around 1-2 inches depending on species which will give the fish more room or even allow you to add maybe a few more small tankmates such as shrimp, otos, dwarf frogs etc.

I would take the Hopplo back to the LFS, buy 4 more tetras, a few male guppies and maybee 2 more very small clown loaches. They do grow slow but only get 2 more if in the future you think you can get them a suitably big tank. Your one isnt going to be happy on his own so I would take him back if your not going to upgrade at some time. I have a king tiger pleck L066, they are very peacefull and pretty also dont get too big. It wont clean your tank like a bristlenose but I love mine. If you do add 2 more clown loaches though I wouldnt add a pleck until they are rehomed. Good luck whatever you do.

right ... been to LFS today. Going to get 3 honey gourami and 4 neons. some shrimp also to clean instead of a pleco.

As loaches slow growing may get him a pal till I have to re home them into a big tank. My hubby is buying a huge viv so may get a big tank to stand on top to home my loaches eventually! There done decision made!!! sound ok???? :good:

If the decision is made then theres no more that needs to be said :) best of luck with your new fish.
