Please Help!

My platy had a fry and the fry is fine... its been about 1 month and the mother looks really skinny and her tail is all beat up and shes always hiding and shes not that active.. can you help/ tell me what to do, please?

I know in some cases after the guppy has dropped her fry she becomes still and dies. Guppies do not eat for 48 hours after dropping fry and can become weak. If no other fish in your tank have signs of illnes and water stats are ok, it could be your guppy is sick due to birth. If you have a breeding net try placing her in there and feed her up a little with live food or frozen. If your currents are strong in tank it could be she is tired and like I said weak. Ive had many females die after birth...its harsh but some times theres nothing you can do.

On another note if your tank has ammonia or nitrite or even ph is too low this could be causing sickness and bacteria comes out with stressed guppies. If your guppies tail has a white like covering and is going limp this sounds like bacteria called Columnaris it is generally caused from high water temps and poor water quality. But like I said if your other fish seem fine, no clapped fins or other signs then could be your fish is tired from birth. Read up on breeding...Ive done endless reading on websites for months now and have learned plenty...I have made plenty mistakes, but over time things get easier to understand. I hope ive helped a little until you can get back with more info as Tolak has asked.

Ive posted alot about the above mentioned disease and my battles to diagnosing it correctly and 3 treatments later. My tank is still being treated now and I lost 3 gupps today...they were the worst effected by the disease and salt baths only prolonged their death. My 1 week old fry are coping with treatment it seems but the fry born only 3 days ago are dying off. My teenage fry seem to be a little freaked by meds but hopfully they will be ok. Im treating with Melafix. Corries and sucker seem ok in their, no signs of infection or stress. My stats are all perfect except the ph dropped to 6.8 after medicating. ammonia is 0, nitrite is 0, nitrate is 10-20, i dont test for hardness or softness as gups prefer hard water and in sydney thats what we get, so I dont seem the point. I have a kit that tests all the above mentioned water stats.
