Please help should I put my goldfish down?????????

I think I'll give him another week and try to cure him with the meds. UHHHHH wish me luck. I will write with the progress.

I really wouldn't write him off just yet. Treat him and see how he does. 99% of the people I mentioned it to told me that one of my bettas who was suffering from dropsy was most likely going to die but I got him some Maracyn-Two and treated him with that anyway, just to give him a chance, and a week later he's completely cured.

Really, it's up to you, do what you feel is best for the fish, but I would definitely consider medication if I were you...then at least if he still doesn't make it you'll always know that you did your absolute best.

I hope everything works out...let us know!

It's down to you in the end, it's your fish and you will no if he is suffering, but if you do want to save him i would start right away with the treatment.

I would try to save it if its not obviously done for. I had 3 labs and one day my wife WAY over fed them and murdered 2/3 the 3rd sure was done for but has since survived many months later and she is perfectly healthy and bright yellow. I was even warned she may not live long after the whole experience (uncycled tank on top of it at the time ...damn lfs...) and she is going strong 2 months later =]

Wilder is one of the most knowledgeable people on here and like they said you know ya fish best ;)
Best of luck!

How's the fish doing?

Give him a chance. If it seems to just get worse, maybe it would be best to put him down.

If you have the money, a local veterinary might have some perscription stuff to use in his water. look in your local listings to see what veterinary practices work with fish. I get the weirdest looks at home for this, but I do take things like mice and fish to the vet and spend tons of money on a 3 or 4 dollar animal.

Try one full course of treatment, then if no improvement, time to let him go.
I had a fancy goldifh with a swim-bladder problem, no infection but spent a very very long time (like, several months) swimming on one side or upside down before he died. I feel really bad for letting him suffer for so long.
If anti-internal medication doesn't work, then the chances are nothing will; fancy goldfish particularly suseptable to swim-bladder problems (genetic).
Sorry.
