15litre biorb is a nice size for a betta on it's own. Without much room, even the most placid betta will not be pleased to share a 15litre tank with a platy or 2. I have a 140 litre tank with a betta and 4 platys, and they get on fine, but there are plenty of places for the betta to keep out of the way when it wants to.

With a bigger tank i'd say no problem, but with the biorb, no way.

ok, thanks for the reply. :)

makes sence, its just the guy at the pet store suggested platys with bettas so i was just wondering. will bettas be ok on there own then, are they quiet and indipendant fish?

thanks x

bettas are fine on their own in fact some ppl preffer it that way
maybe get a snail or shrimp as friends
scot :)

Bettas like it better when they are on your own. But can get on with plattys or small tetras without any problems. Not anything that might make the betta think its one of its own, like Guppys. As someone above said, that tank is slightly small to put any more fish in with a Betta, try getting the next biorb up.. Bettas can be very fussy about their own space at times. So make sure if you do choice to have other fish with him, you have some hinding places for the betta.
