Bad sign this morning, I'm afraid. Caught the male young guppy repeatedly attacking Smudge. She is about 5 times his size but seemed unable to defend herself.
Haven't got a spare hospital tank for her, so ended up isolating her in a breeding net, at least it's a fairly good size and she is safe. Put a plant in to reassure her.
Oh dear, this means there is at least one occupant of the tank who thinks she is dying....
We're going camping this afternoon until tomorrow, I'm afraid I'll find her dead in the tank when we get back. And then the others will start dying....
Can't think what else I could have done though. I had no idea that tiny thing would go for her, the adult female guppies have seemed friendly enough.
At the moment she doesn't seem too bad, she put up a good fight when I came with the net and is exploring her new home quite calmly. She is upright in the water and feding; I thought I'd better give them all a bit to eat to calm them down after all the excitement (not something I'd usually do); in particular, young Sunny the guppy looked as if he needed something to do with all his new-found aggression.
Wish I had some Melafix or something to put in the water.
