Hi all,

Our beautiful platy's body shape has changed recently. She has squared-off underneath, as per the first photo, however in the past few days she has also developed a lump, that's more obvious in the second photo (sorry for the poor quality).

She shouldn't be pregnant, and all the water parameters are perfect. She was in a tank with her sisters, they all seem fine, hence we've moved her to a hospital tank.

Any suggestions as to what it could be, or what treatment (if any) might help, would be most welcome.

Thank you!

How old is she. I think that she may just be reaching the end of her life.
Hi, thanks for your reply. I should have actually written that in the original thread - one of the things that's a bit perplexing is that she's quite young, only around 9 months old. She has 15 brothers and sisters who all seem to be fine (the boys and girls are in separate tanks).

All these fish are highly bred. None of the colors on this fish are natural, so they have a lot of recessive genes. There life expectancy is greatly reduced because of this.
