as in the title,, i know he has an illness but i cant remember the name. he has 3 white spots on his forhead. what is it? he is in a 120ltr, do i treat the whole tank or do i move him to my 38ltr and treat him in there. ? i have 2 shrimps and snails in my 38ltr i take it it wont matter if they are in there when he gets doesed. what medication should i get? i just cant remember the name of the illness! thanks.

it's white spot, best med IMHO is King British WS3, think it may be harmful to shrimps/snails.... can't remmeber, sure someone else will chip in shortly.

clean water is vital in treating it, make sure ammonia and nitrite are at 0 and nitrate is as low as possible, lots of water changes if needs be. :good:

thanks MW. i have a spare filter, shall i attach it to the 120ltr to add some extra filtration and disturb the water? what tank do you think i should treat him in? is white sopt contageos? do i move him out of the community tank into the hospital tank? help!!!!!!!!

you need to treat the whole tank, white spot is a parasite and it lives in the gravel so you'll need to treat the whole tank and all it's inhabitants. Yes if you can add another filter to make sure the water is clean and well oxygenated, also do plenty of gravel vaccing to make sure there's no extra waste around.

The WS3 will have instructions on the bottle for how to dose it.

looks like in off to the lfs to get some white spot treatment.! thanks for that MW. shall i vac the gravel 2 times a day? or is that overkill?

probably, just give it a good clean out now before you start treatment and then give it a quick once over every couple of days while treating.

thanks again. i was just unsure whether to treat him in the big tank or move him to the small tank but in the big tank as you said i can treat everyone. i swear i keep the lfs afloat!!!!!
