Hey everyone,

I have three guppies and one platy in my ten gallon tank. Whenever I put some food in the tank, the guppies always come up to the surface and snatch the food before the platy even has a chance. And when he does come to the surface, he is scared away by any kind of movement.

What can I do about this? I don't think he's eaten anything at all in the last couple days since I brought him home...

Thanks,
Jordan

u could try using food that sinks or live that may wriggle to the bottom like blood worms

If its only been a couple of days he should be fine, hes just shy. If hes hungry enough he'll eat... just monitor him over the next few days

OK, going with what tomo9 said, where could I get blood worms? LFS? Would PetSmart have them?

Thanks for the responses, guys.

PS is it platties as in dinner plate or platties in plaid.

PSS he seems to nibble on things on the bottom of the tank, like pieces of plants that have fallen off, or pieces of food that sink to the bottom.

It's pladdies. :) Let the fish get used to it's new surroundings, it should eat once it gets settled in. Bloodworms are a good high protein food, but too much can cause constipation & bloat. I wouldn't feed bloodworms more than a couple times weekly to platys.
