It sure is, going back years now when mine had thier first, i was amazed, just sat there any watched it til the very end, after that i seen more and more give birth and it never gets boring, just great to watch.
Still 4 babies, it been about 20-30 minutes since she dropped last, she seemed really stressed, so I turned the lights out in the room, and put a blanket over the tank to make it darker for her, hopefully she'll be better!
I use to cover mine up with the tank lights off,its calms them down,my blue platy was a big dropper & use to take around 5 hours to drop her fry anything between 55-72 fry
I also noticed with all my platys, once they've finished their drop, they poo out a long dark poo, whether its anything to do with a drop fry.. but they poo'd it
Thanks! and yes, she's in a breeder trap, I put her in around 10 pm last night, then around 12 hrs later she started giving birth! I can't tell if she's done yet though, theirs 5 babies as of right now, but she still looks a bit fat, and I can see the white dot still,....
I'm getting a bit concerned, she has had 6 fry now, in a span of 4 hours,.... she seems to drop 1 fry every 30-60 minutes,... is that normal?
I don't know if she's done giving birth yet...
she might be stressed because shes in a breeders net.but she may just be stressed giving birth.if shes young i think it will be normal for her to drop slowly.
ya, I bought her at the pet store, but she's probably 7-8 months old,... it is her first pregnancy, does the first one usually produce less fry? or take longer?
