I aquired 3 platy fry from the LFS (stow-aways); they are probably just over 1 cm in lenght; just wondering roughtly how old they are? From what I've read I'd guess around a month but I'm not sure. I know we'll not know their exact age; we were just curious.

Also at what age can you start sexing them? At the minute they all look like females but then I don't know when they start looking different...

Aww excellent; thank you.

TBH I think they are platy fry but not 100% sure. I've looked at photos and they look exactly like the photos; don't know what variety (if they even have varieties). They have been eating crushed up flake food as well :). Two are orange and one is silver. Time will tell I guess. We tried a bit of "first bites" in with them (as there are danio fry in the same tank) but they didn't seem all that impressed.

At what age can they start breeding? I want to try and separate them if they are different sexes.

Can you put up a picture DDNoodle? it would allow us to do two things. We could view yet another bunch of livebearer fry, one of my favorite things to do, and it would let us help you judge the species of your fry.

I most certainly will. the pics I have aren't very good (the fish are staying with my boyfriend at the minute).

Edit:

I should say I think the fry are platy lol (but then I guess you could confirm that for me too with pics).
