After my poor platy passed away, I happened to take closer look at him before I disposed of his body. I noticed then that there was a large red spot on his stomach, which kind of looked to me like internal bleeding, or an explosion of a blood vessel of some kind.

I was away for much the whole day, so I didn't notice how ill he was (and he tend to keep to himself unlike all my other fish who are always clamouring for attention), until a few hours ago, but by the time I had dinner and came back, he'd slipped away. I realise now that this was an ulcer.

My question is, how should I treat the rest of my tank now? I don't want to run the risk of any parasites or infections getting to them as well.

Please and thankyou!

You should treat the rest of the fish to frequent close examination in case some disease arises. Preventive dosing of any medication is a very bad idea. It leads to bacteria and such becoming resistant to the medications and the chance of you happening on the right medication for a particular potential disease are very poor.
