I've had my sunset platy for almost five months now, it is a female and is usually the most active in the tank. However between today and yesterday she has barely moved. I haven't had any outbreaks or added any medications to the tank and I'm very careful about how much I feed.
It's a 29 gallon tank with a guppy, a dwarf gourami, and a Bolivian Ram. The tank has been up and running since August and I haven't had any problems so far about fish dying quickly and such.
Water changes are done every week, removing about 25% of the water each time. I also run a carbon filter which I have checked, it seems to be working fine. The most recent filter change was two weeks ago.
The platy I have is definitely not pregnant and has been lying sort of on her side at the bottom of the tank. She usually swims with the guppy so he has now resorted to swimming around her in a circle at the bottom. Occasionally she will swim to another spot on the bottom of the tank but never makes it more than halfway to the top before dropping back down. Her dorsal fin doesn't seem to expand as much as it usually does.
I'm planning on going out and getting a test kit in a few hours as I suspect it may be the ammonia levels but I'm not sure what could be causing it.
Any additional information about what it could be would be really helpful, thank you in advance!
