One of my more playful platys got stuck in a rock whilst playing today, he was playing this morning and when i checked this evening he was dead trapped in one of the rocks, tried to swim through a hole far too small for him. Gutted, poor little fella.

Question i have is, i have 2 platys left plus one baby platy. I plan on moving them to my new bigger tank once its cycled. Will these 2 adult platys be ok with just each other for company in the short term? The baby platy swims by itself at the moment and doesnt interact with the others as they are so much bigger than her. Hoping she will eventually though.

they will be fine for a wile, when you move them into there tank i suggest getting some more

They should be fine. But make sure when you do rehouse them in a bigger tank that you have a ratio of 2 females to every male or the males will end up bullying the females. I have kept 2 males in a small tank and they were ok for a while as they were in quarantine, but they strted to get a bit wild with each other after about 7 days! Now they are in the main tank and are happy and healthy as there are a lot of females in there. I also had a platy get stuck behind a rock but i was lucky as i caught it quick and managed to save the little rascal!LOL! GRJ

Wow the same thing happened to my female platy today. Are they too optimistic or just plain dumb? I hope she doesn't venture near that hole again. BTW, if you do have time can you check out my [topic="215910"]post[/topic] on the injured platy and what I do to get her back into shape
