Iv just done some research on platies they seem just like guppies but look nicer and breed the same should i abort guppies for platys? i have a 35liter tank which i plan to use for guppies/platys what you guys think:D should i get them? what else should i know about them how do they breed? how many fry? do they eat thier fry?

The care is fairly similar. Platies tend to be a bit hardier. Breeding is pretty much the same, roughly the same amount of fry as guppies. They will eat their fry if insufficient cover is given

sounds good sounds brill!:D but for cover will a plant that floats and a ship wreck decoration and another plant do? i don't want to completely cover the whole tank

You won't save all of them that way but you should be able to get at least a few from each drop. To keep the majority of the fry alive, you will either need to remove the fry to another tank or cram the tank full of plants.

i do have a spare 10liter ill try that one:) so what u guys think guppies or platys?

WOW, no one voted for guppies lmao!

Guppies in my opinion, will always be the main part of my stocking, they are just lovely and full of personality, they look great as a group and they are constantly using all areas and depths of the tank, full of energy! and of course they are beautiful sorts of colours.

may get 2 female platys a male and 2 male guppies hmm

I voted guppies as i've bred them and not too fond of the body shape of platies.

I voted platies. I did have both but the male guppies harass the females 24-7 which can be quite upsetting. So I only have female guppies and both platies now.

Thats very true, my only male guppy keeps harassing my swordtail females, trying to get his freek on!

You should go for platies. I have them and they have been my favorite.Pleties are basically the same. They eat their fry if they get the chance and they have about 40 fry (depending on size, age, etc)

I am looking at your dilemma very differently than most people so far. You have a very small tank that will become crowded with fry quickly. The guppies give you a slight advantage in that you will be able to keep a few more of them before your tank is completely overloaded. In either case, I would not be trying to breed fish unless I had a lot more than a 35 litre tank to grow out the fry. At 60 to 80 litres, you might be able to raise a single guppy drop to a good size to sell but you would have trouble with platies in that size tank. It takes lots of tank space to raise livebearers to a good size. I have decided to raise a drop of molly fry and have a 200 litre tank that I intend to use for that single drop. In about 3 months I should be able to grow them big enough to sell at enough profit to pay for their food. Not a real world profit but at least it won't cost me money to raise them.

Yea it would become pretty overpoulated fast. SO in that case gppies would be the better choice for you. But maybe with a larger tank and you could get platies.
