Which is better, Plastic or Glass aquariums? I've been told plastic is much cheaper. I intend on getting a 30 gallon tank.

i wouldnt buy a plastic tank, because they can be scratched easier than glass tanks

i have too many kids though, and poking kids fingers arent good for platic tanks

Actually from what I've seen acrylic (plastic) aquariums are more expensive. I'd say go with the glass. As I was just told If you go to petsmart you can get a 29 Gallon aquarium kit including filter, heater, and whatever else for $109.00

Oh. The thing is, I want a 30 gallon tank. And I've been looking around. Don't want to spend more than $40 (on the aquarium itself). But I don't need it now. I'll need it in June or July.

Usually you don't have much options as to glass or acrylic. Most tanks are glass except the ones that are odd shaped such as wave tanks or bowfront. Glass can't be bent the way acrylic can. Also acrylic is much lighter so a lot of large tanks are acrylic for weight purposes.

As for buying a 30 gallon tank for under $40, you should be able to get a new one for that price. The filter, heater, etc will obviously cost you more but the tank alone shouldn't run more than that. You can actually buy a 10 gallon glass tank at Petsmart for about $10.
