can i use a uv sterilizer when growing tropical plants such as amazon swords and java fern ? any advice would be much appreciated ! thanx

Welcome to the forum Dave.
A UV filter should not affect the plants at all. It really only affects whatever water goes through the tube and is exposed to the light. As a way to kill micro-organisms, it is fairly effective. It can also be used to control green water algae, an algae that floats around in the water and give it a green tint.
