I have Java Moss, Java Fern, Anubius, and Hygrophila with my baby oscar.  I hear if I float the hygro, and tie the other plants to rocks and driftwood I should be good.  The fish will be growing up with a planted environment.  What do you think?

Thanks.

It's worth a try; some oscars will leave plants alone. Having said that, the two oscars I've owned both ripped plants to shreds, but yours might be better behaved than mine were!

Oscars like to play around with their plants, tearing them up is a way of them playing, just make sure you watch out for fighting if they are both males

Was this something they've always done, or did they develop it as they matured?

I actually got rid of the aggressor.  Now it's just one Oscar and a Sailfin Pleco, but I might ditch the pleco...

It was something they both did, right from the time I had them. Every so often I'd try and make their tank look a bit prettier, or try a different type of plant, but nothing survived more than a week or two; even Java fern and anubias, which are both pretty tough plants.

But, like I said, it's worth a try; oscars really do vary a lot in character
