I have some really big plants that I bought from my LFS and have grown a lot since I got them. They're doing really well, and my tank is only 64L, so I don't want them any bigger.
If I cut them in half, would it be better to use the top half or the bottom?
Would the top half root itself?
Thanks for any info! :good:

This all depends what plants they are.

Have you any idea of their name, this would be a great help. :)

Are they stem plants, root plants or rhizome plants?

As you have said you could cut them in "half" I am thinking you are taliking about stem plants.

I'll upload some pictures for you in a second! I'll just take some now :good:

Here it is. Sorry for the quality! This picture has both plants in it.

Elodea and cabomba. You can cut them in half and either both the top half will root itself and the bottom half will send out a new 'top shoot'.
The top shoot wont come from the place you cut, normally a couple of cm down from there.

Okay, thank you! :D

The best way to cut stem plants is to cut off the bottom by the number of inches you want left at the top for growing room, based gradually on your experience of how fast they grow and how often you're willing to do pruning.. maybe start by taking them down 3 inches or so. WD
