I really would like to try to introduce live plants into my system that are easy to care for - - (read : no C02) - atleast for right now...

I used to have luck with water wisteria, but one of our goldfish has suddenly developed a craving for it....and now all of our goldfish enjoy eating it....so needless to say we have no more wisteria.

are there any plants that thrive in a low maintenance setting WITH goldfish???

real plants? get Jungle val, Amazon swords, hygro etc. plants with thick leaves. they will try but won't get to pluck them out.

Well, that will largely depend on how much light you have.
Some plants do need more CO2 than others, however light is predominantly what dictates whether CO2 needs to be added or not.

Size of the tank?
How much light?
What kind of lighting? (t8, t5, t5ho)

looking for real, already have silk

it is a 72 gallon bow, usually 10 hours of light...

not sure what type of lights tho....i bought the tank from a store going out of business (sold with out a light) and my mom gave my her old (1.5 year old) light strip...its about 3 feet long, two bulbs...no writing on it to tell me what kind of wattage etc

Typically 3ft t8s are 30W each.
There are no 3ft t5 bulbs.

So, lets assume that you have 60W over 72gallons. You have low light (yay).
You wont need CO2.

Load the tank up with:

Amazon swords
Aponagtons
java fern
Anubais

You probably don't have enough light to keep it alive on an ongoing basis, but I had some goldfish overwintering in one of my tanks last year and they really seemed to enjoy a nice bunch of anacharis from time to time.

As a snack, mind you. Not as decoration.

But throwing in a few more edible varieties may help keep the little gluttons away from your other greenery.

Just a thought.
