please don't say both, because i just wanna know what the reason for the desire of plants is.
oh, if there is some other reason (like you grow plants in ur tank because you propegate houseplant cuttings in water) please below.

I say both. I have real plants because I like the look and they are good for the fish.

both

sorry, couldn't resist. But it is true I do it for both reasons, but I guess for the fish more.

I voted for the fish because thats my main reason, but i do like the real look it gives off in my tank. For my school of khulie loaches i bought a type of carpet grass plant and it's almost spread through the whole bottom of the tank but the khulies are in heaven. They come swim any where in the tank instead of being in their cave all day because there's is a carpet of leaves everywhere. I have moss because my guppy fry eat the small bacteria that grow off of it and hide in it from hungry, adult fish . I have wide leafed plants in my cichlid tank which a pair of my cichlids lay eggs on. All my plants serve a purpose. More so for my fish than for me though.

interesting. what kind of carpet?

I keep plants because the are good for the fish, and they seem to be happy with them in the tank.

My plants are mostly sword plants, and they are potted up so I can move them when I need to catch the fish, but the little touch of green sure does look nice too. :D

Well i grow mine for evrything really. The aestheticss for my eyes. i think natural is beutiful (nun of this plastic purplr crap) It benefits the fish because they feel better with natural protection and cover. And yeah, they are a chalenge to keep. It gives you something else to do in the hobby too.

I have plants, because I've always had plants :p

I try to get extra plants into a certain tank when I need them (leaf fish) :D

I love plants because it makes the aquarium look wonderful & natural. The fish love it, too :) The plants also help keep algae in check !!!

I had a couple small plants but added quite a few more to aid in controling an algae problem I had. It also gives my cory's and shrimp a place to hide. I do love the way they look though so I guess I vote for both too.

I have plants for both reasons but the main one is for the fish. I find that my fish have a much more natural interaction with live plants and they seem happier. :fish:
