Have some Hornwort, some larger leafed plants ( not swords but bigger and slender leaves ) and some what looks like canadian pondweed.

The larger slender leaved plant leaves are dying as in they are coming away form there stems and leaving behind the skeletel remains and veins of the leaves ( if that makes sense ) and the hornwort is basically rotting and has what looks like dirt or fish poo on the leaves.

The canadian pondweed type stuff is going great guns, growing lie mad though.

Did a water test and everything is within what it should be. The tank has small green spots on the glass which iput down to Algae and can be scrapped off.

The tank was set up in November last year so is fairly established, and is a Juwel 80 - 90 litre job.

I will try and get some pictures up tonight but any ideas or help would be very gratefully received.

Orry to reply to my own thread, but have been following the thread about the blackout on the tank and followed the link to the algae guide. My plants seem to be covered in green spot algae. Is it best to do a blackout or cut down lighting altogether?

Also I dont often fertilise my plants would this be a good idea to start doing this more often, I read in the thread that Seacham flourish is the way to go.

Not really my field. I have just bunged in as many plants as I can and got lucky.

I got a feeling (and it's just a feeling) that the 'brown stuff' is not algae but something begining with  D and low lighting causes it :/

How long do you have your lights on?

I must admit that at one time I, or rather my tank suffered from a layer of brown gue. I have my lights on for a couple of hours first thing, fairly low ambient light through the day (avoiding direct sunlight) then about 5 hours in the evening. No brown gue now! :good:

Something beginning with D ?

Am I really being thick!!

No no not at all ;) I really cant remember, was sort of hoping someone would jump in here! It'snot algae it's d*********?

There are some of the pictures of the plants dying.

Lack of Co2?

That plant looks non-aquatic from the photo. Which would explain it dieing.

The plants have been in there for some time though, at least since christmas and been doing fine up until now.
