Planted tank

@ iggy01......thanks iggy........means a lot coming from you guys, when i look at some of the replys you guys can provide to different threads on this board i know im still only a learner, but thats what i like about it , in some ways its quite simple and in other ways its very complex and only experience can really teach you that, but ive only learnt from spending hours and hours in the beginning reading through pages and pages of threads in the planted section, which all of you guys have replied to, so im only soaking up the knowledge that you guys have allready so im still learning and reading the threads.......but its kudos to all you guys really.

Cheers iggy

gf thanks again........but before all this starts going to my head ive just noticed spot algae on my anubias  so like i say im still only a learner, i think it must have been the addition of the po4 the other day throwing the tank off balance, i think this happens to this plant, ill wait and see or you will see a thread in the next few days.....still only learning..........cheers gf

Jimbooo...........HAHA............game over :D .......you would probably thrash me if it came to it, we will see how well i do with another aquascape, only time will tell

Cheer guys........see you guys in the plant section......where i shall learn some more :D

:D

on the anubias spot algae issue i have the same problem.

they dont like high light tanks and will get spot algae if in direct light, try to shade them with the bigger stuff (mine is under my lillys for example).

as to the level you are at, the reply you sent to iggy01 applies to me as well. it's not my skill i just read a lot and spend too much money on the damn tank. (cant afford to keep myself alive any more but the fish will be okay  )

apart from all that you designed and made the tank yourself. massive respect, i'd never trust my handy work to stay together with that kind of weight on it.

That's what I like to hear - a bit of healthy competition between already successful aquarists can only result in more beautiful works of art. Count me in too - when I eventually get my head around a final layout plan and find enough valuable spare time.

zig - Regarding your Anubias spot algae, I've read frequently that actually dosing MORE PO4 can help. It did the trick for my Sagittaria. What are your current levels? Try going a little higher, as you are probably aware up to 2ppm is ok (according to Tom Barr). I've gone up to 1.5ppm so far with no problems.

Love it Zig, thats one of the most natural looking tanks ive seen in a long time.

WOW! I LOVE it! haha. I wish I could get my tanks to look that good! You have some really lucky fish! :kewlpics:

Tokis-Phoenix RYO and Alisha ........Thank you very much

Nix........dont know about angels, id probably only get a pair in there, and they would probably dwarf the tank eventually, if the tank was much bigger ....maybe.....most planted tanks are stocked with smaller fish, so maybe ill stick with small fish for the moment........Thanks for looking.

Jimbooo........ill probably move the plant, thanks for the tip, hadnt really thought of that.

gf.....i upped the po4 level to 2, probably overkill, but ill be doing the 50% water change on sunday so its only a few days and i will reset the levels, ill see how the plant responds and thereafter will probably keep the levels at 1-1.5, but i just wanted to see if it had any immeadiate effect, so far it hasnt, but maybe by sunday it may have kicked in.

Thanks again everybody for looking at the weeds in my tank :D

Zig, i've been away all week working so i have missed this post until now.

Tank looks amazing mate, well done and dont worry, you, jimbooo, gf and the rest of the crew will have some competition when i eventually get my tank started :D (nealy there) so keep up the good work

Thanks jimboliana appreciate it

Nice one!

Those dry ferts should hopefully prevent an algae reoccurance.

"Let the games commence!"

I don't think zig quite "leaves it alone". As for you getting annoyed by people who change their layout (I assume that's what you mean by messing with it) - that I don't understand.
