Planted Tank Question

Hello All

Okay long story short I was working on the aquatics part of my store this weekend and many customers were asking me about putting plants in their tanks, obviously I said that they should as they are a vital part of the aquarium set up etc etc, but alot of them were asking WHEN is the best time to put plants into the aquarium. Personally I would've thought the best time would be when you're setting your tank up- although one customer told me they'd been told to wait 6weeks (with the fish in the tank!) before adding plants (not from my store I should add) but I would be grateful for other opinions and reasoning Thanks

Dont think there really is a set time limit on when to add plants it doesnt really matter i dont think?

See that was my thinking, I just felt it was common sense that when you're buying your tank/gravel/ornaments etc you might as well get your plants at the same time. but this wait 6 weeks thing really confused me- it didn't make any logical or scientific sense.

I think maybe waiting for 6 weeks is to get your tank cycled and stable ready to add plants? When the tank has been established though i think adding plants at anytime shouldn't be a problem

Yeah maybe, but they already had fish in the tank...hmmm maybe they misunderstood what someone had said to them, the mystery goes on

Ah well if they already had fish then that is a little odd, must of got the wrong end of the stick as you say. Did they actually buy plants in the end?

Yeah they did, some java fern on bogwood- I have to say it was a good choice
