20oz = approx. 560g.

You'll need about 30 to 60 bubbles per minute I'd guess in your tank. With a solenoid your bottle should last around 3 to 5 months I'd say.

Pressurized CO2 is an essential for any high-tech setup IMO, you won't look back. I'm not familiar with the Red Sea CO2 system but they're a reputable manufacturer.

Ahh thanks very much george, that is fantastic, atm I am getting about 60 bubbles per min via DIY and I keep it fairly constant due to changing over a bottle weekly. But I also unfortunatly run 24/7 do to the DIY nature and not wanting to uncap at night and recap in the morning. That is why I am really looking forward to pressurized, being able to kill the flow at night when my plants are pumping out co2 on there own. That and the steady rate and less work hehe. I am also toying with a ph controller on the solenoid, but just may use a timer to stop the flow at night for the time being. As to not freek the wife out cost wise hehe.

I don't really have a ph crash problem atm anyway. My tap water is pretty steady 7.2 to 7.3 and when I added peat to my substrate and started blasting co2 I only fell to about 7.0 to 7.2 so almost perfect for my cherry reds, neutral to slight alkaline. As anything I read said cherries prefer that range. And so far they are happy and healty but have not breed yet, (well that I know of hehe, I tend not to even see the adults for periods at a time). Sometimes I see them out cleaning like mad, others they vansish for periods, not sure if that is due to molts or what, but they always seem to come back out. I see my japonicas alot more, they seem to be alot more active shrimp, and are out cleaning non stop.

Can I suggest you read this thread regarding pressurised CO2? It has links to a few threads on the subject :) The only thing I can see with the red sea one it that it'll cost you a fortune, think its 6quid for a months supply, thats even more than the nutrafin ones and those are a rip off for starters.

Sorry I am kinda confused, I don't get what you mean by monthly cost to run, I am just starting to research pressurized. This is the system I was looking at http://www.bigalsonline.com/catalog/produc...ategory_id=2259

I was under the impression that if I grabbed a pair of 20oz paintball canisters, the only real cost would be refills on the canisters, and a local welding shop in my town said they could refill my canisters for 2.99 canadian a pop. Which to me seems like a pretty cost effectice method, since atm, I am going through a fair chunk of yeast and brown sugar atm.

Sorry if I am missing a vital element to going pressurized, I am also about to go read those posts, so I may find my answer before I even get a reply, thx for the heads up though :)

Oh sorry Ive been an idiot, I thought you meant the red sea yeast system that they do. Forget what I said you are quite right re the refilling the co2 cylinders.

Ahh sweet you had me worried for a sec hehe, I have been doing DIY co2 via 2 2L pop bottles so there would be no point to a store bought yeast system. I looked at the hagan yeast one with ladder when I first got looking into planted but figured a DIY would be as good, just not as neat looking, but I hid mine behind my blacked out tank back anyway.
