Thanks for all the comments. What do you mean 'tie the plants down'? Burying them in gravel was exactly what I was thinking I had to do. LOL So I won't do that now. I don't really have anything to tie things down to in the aquarium. What would work?
I agree about the dark background. I want one for both of my aquariums.

plants like anubias and java fern do better when they are tied to things instead of in the gravel. you ca tie them to rocks, wood, flower pots, ornaments.

Anubias, Java Ferns etc are all slow growing plants, you need to have some fast ones in there aswell, that will stop algae growth and also help the water quality to some degree. Cabomba, Elodea etc.
