I believe its Water Sprite, hence it has a root system and the last thing i want is floating plants again after the last lot decided the mash themselves through my power heads...given up on that front :D So planted they will stay.

Then again, you could be right with a Fine Leaf Indian Fern....it does look very similar. :| Oh i dont know, its a plant, they all frustrate me :|

lol fair enoough iv got some in my tank and it looks like it so ;p

i think you have done the right thing with that Tizer...most plants don't need 'highlight'. High light means faster growth, lower light means slower growth. This is not a lighting issue. Ensure there is adequate flow around the substrate and this stuff will go crazy.

Cheers Ian, i've got lots of flow in the tank, not had to do a single vac for poop since its been going so there is deffinately a lot of movement. Time will tell!

the second pic which u called solid is a willow leaf hygro and its what I was referring to in my last post. its a great plant and unkillable ime

Hope so, it looks like it should make a nice middle ground plant!

Pretty sure it's water sprite as mine grew the plantlets in the same way. As for pic 2 you'll probably want that stuff at the back, I have it in mine and it GROWS, like seriously. The stuff grows so long I have to keep replanting it because it gets to the surface and leans forward so it can grow longer. When it's developed you'll end up with side shoots growing out of it all over the place and it gets huge. Will post a pic of mine later if you want (and if I remember). Lovely plant though I've always had it in my tanks. It flowers when it's emersed just a shame it doesn't (ime) submerged.

Edit: In my sig you can see it at the back in the middle, 3 stems at the surface (about 40cm) and it's a lot bigger now.

nice one :D Im gonna keep it in the middle though as i have hopes that the other plants will also grow tall and rest on the water and go with the spray bars. I can keep it thinned out and trimmed no problem.

Well the Indian Fern that i ended up replanting has done the same again with the roots so i've binned it. I can only imagine that the fine sand was too restrictive on the roots? They didnt seem like strong roots in the slightest...no idea really. That crosses these guys off the list.

I've spoken to Mike at Last Trading Post who has said the dark stem plant with green leaves is a "Hygrophila corymbosa var. siamensis". it grows quite bushy and if it is allowed to grow it will shed its lower leaves and end up looking like a coconut tree! My Kribensis have been nibbling away at the new leaves trying to grow which is somewhat annoying, but its still there and looking strong. Might have to get rid of the kribs soon, but still waiting for the female to pair up with one of my males, then they can go over to my 90l.

The Egeria Densa has been cut in half and replanted, its started to send off new branches/shoots and is looking very healthy, very green too, for a plant that is normally a darker green in colour.

The Luwiga Repens is still going but not exactly doing wonderful.

My crypts seemed to have literally stopped growing, in actual fact, the whole tank seems to have ground to a halt with growth, a little odd.

Have been EI dosing for two weeks now.

Take out the Crypts and post them to me... :D :D :D I neeeeeeeeed more Crypts!!! I will post you some Vallis in return seeing as you seem to be able to grow it better than me! :D

My Indian Fern has also been gobbed. Just went brown and the roots went black. Also had to prune the Swords as they developed massive brown parts on their leaves and began dying off... Beginning to think it would have been better to just go to my LFS and get what i know i can grow! :/

Wt.f, vallis is the last thing i need dood!

The guy at Last Trading post gave me some tips with the swords, to quote: "Common Amazon Sword (Echinodorus bleheri), although I'd recommend planting them individually (or in small groups) in a large terracotta pot full of potting compost (any cheap, chemical free variety will do), trim the roots and plant carefully so the crown is ABOVE the substrate, then top the pot off with gravel, or round pebbles to keep the soil (and plants in). If you want you can hide the pots behind bogwood or stones, of bury it in the sand. With Amazon Swords don't worry when the leaves you get on the plant initially die off (usually 3-5 weeks), this is normal for the stumpy "emerged" leaves they're always sold with, the plant will then sprout totally different looking "submerged" leaves that are much bigger, brighter green (and red), and semi-transparent - very striking!"

Might give that a crack this weekend. My leaves are also dying off slowly.

Ok then, you send me the Crypts and i will send you nothing... :D

Thanks for the tip regarding the swords... :good:
