I recently added this little beauty to my planted community freshwater tropical fishtank:

mysteryplant.jpg

I think it's lovely but I'm concerned that I can't find it in any books. Do I have a problem plant here or just a rare specimen? ID and advice would be welcome (-:

I also found this odd snail tonight, and it's the first time I've seen one like it in my tank...

longsnail.jpg

He is pretty long; over half a inch at least. The foot is black. I got a bunch of nifty pictures because I thought he was pretty but I won't bore you with them here (-: Do you know what kind it is or whether he should be removed ASAP? I have a problem with the common small round snails but I hadn't seen this kind before. If they don't reproduce like crazy, as the common snails do, I might let him stay awhile, but otherwise I'll throw him out. I hate snail infestations! I just wondered what this particular one might be, if anyone knows. I figured plant lovers might be acquainted with snails ;)

Thanks for your time!

its a dracnea ( spelled something like that)

its not an aquatic tank, tho lots of shops sell them as such, plant it and put in a light place out of direct sunlight,
shouldnt keep it in the tank as it will rot

no idea what the snail is, but its pretty

The plant is non-aquatic so it should be taken out as it will rot like shelagh said :)

The snail is Malaysian Trumpet snail (MTS). It's a prolific live bearing snail. Some people find them a problem since they do reproduce fast when food is in abundance and no predators. There's a recent thread on these and the replies sum up what people's take on them and I love mine. I think they are lovely
