Planning On Begging My Mom If I Can Get Another Betta!

betta_grl, sorry, but bettas are way easier than cats or dogs. You could ignore your betta for a week and he would still be fine. But if your cat couldn't eat for a week it'd starve...

We aren't saying just cause they're cheap they're easy...

But why would you ignore you betta for a week???I don't think any pet is easy.Pets are a commentment.

I think they mean compared to other pets, betta's are easiest. I would have to agree with them if that is the case. Betta's of course aren't always easy though. Its hard because when they get sick, its very hard (for me) to diagnose and medicate. So, to sum it all up, Betta's are probably one of the easiest pets to take care of, but still difficult at times.

I don't think any pet is 'easiest'. It's all a matter of opinion. It's like asking someone "cat or dog?" someone who has had bad experiences with fish is going to say bettas are hard to keep, while someone who hasn't been succesful in keeping a cat from running away, yet can breed bettas easily, is going to disagree.

Though, I do think taking care of an elephant would be much harder than keeping a betta :p

There are times when all I do all day is walk around my house mumbling under my breath that seven bettas would be a heck of a lot easier to take care of than my seven cats. No twice daily litterbox cleaning, no 200 dollar vet bills, no yearly shots, no worries about the 80 dollar a month food bills. (No getting tripped down the steps, or fighting for the covers, or not being able to use the loo in peace...)

 Kidding, I love my cats. But I can imagine how much time and money I'd have left over if it were seven bettas.

Well.. I don't know about cats but if you ignored a dog for a week, it'd be "fine" (barely surviving) too. Not saying that it's right at all(!) but just comparing it to bettas.. the betta would probably still be surviving.. though certaining not thriving.

But I do agree that a betta is easier to keep than a cat or dog.. but even so, some people still can't seem to find a couple minutes here and there to feed them and keep their water clean.

I think it depends on your commitments to pets and animals. And just your life really. If you lived in a box flat or just a room/bedsit. You certainly wouldnt have room for a dog or cats. But you could fit in a betta somewhere :) depends on your lifestyle and commitments

I'm going on vacation for 5 days and I'm paying my best friend 5 dollars for Bill to stay with her.. I would NEVER leave him for 5 days!! I'll miss him horribly, though. :-(

:look: I just leave my bettas in clean sparkly water, give them fresh weed, and a small bit of vacation block (dont criticise please) I left them at Easter for a week and they were absolutely fine when I got home. Son pops in for my birds and tortoise but I dont trust him to feed fish he fed my fancy goldfish one year and I had to do major clean outs when I get home so I tell him to ignore them.

Trust me, from experiance... :p Cats are hard. But say they had water and a habitat like fish.. they could live for about a week.. still, Betta's are pretty easy in comparison. Over here, the walk in bill to the vet alone is $50. :X
