Planning For A Betta Tank

Interesting... the first time I've given the tank a really good looking at...

I can see tiny tiny tiny insects like springtails and something which alarmingly like a very small worm. I found a snail before the standard plant one and then I just found one which has a clear shell.

Also does anyone know how long the white spot parasite can lost for without a host?
