Hi Guys, this tank has been sitting on my bedroom floor empty for months now as I contemplate what to put in it. The tank itself is 20 gallons, hex. Measurements are on the picture I've drawn in purple.
The grey "spraypaint" in the picture would be black gravel. The brown is what I want the driftwood piece to look like. I'm thinking Mopani might work better for the look I want, rather than malaysian like I use in my other tanks. The look I want may require multiple pieces of driftwood, which I'm willing to use. The idea is to have it look like the roots and bottom of a tree. The reason for this idea is because the tank is so tall, I want to be able to have something that occupies the upper regions of the tank.
The tank is equipped with an 8 watt flourescent light, and so I plan to use that to grow some anubias and/or java fern on the wood (pictured as the green blobs in the picture). The plan is to have very few plants in this tank.
Heater wise, I'm thinking an Eheim Jager heater, as that is what I use in my 46 gallon and have absolutely no problems with it whatsoever, or possibly one of the Hydor heaters, as I've had no problems with them either.
Filtration is an AquaClear 50, which came with the tank.
Planned Stocking:
-1 x Angelfish (see note below)
-6-8 x Schooling Fish (UP FOR SUGGESTIONS)
-5 x Kuhli Loach
**For this tank, because of it's height, I was thinking I'd put my angelfish into it (she's getting a little aggressive for my 46 gallon, and isn't compatible with my african butterfly fish)
I know that due to the limited surface area, I'd have to be careful how many fish I add to the tank, as it could support fewer fish than a typical 20 gallon tank. I also know that I may need to extend the intake on the AquaClear50 filter to ensure that it is as effective as possible.
How am I doing for plans on this tank? Are there any suggestions you would make to help improve the plan?
