I don't understand it. I don't overfeed my rams and the planeria just keep building up. I noticed they have been eating my plants too. I was wondering if there is an alternative to changing the water to get rid of them? I just bought about 15 gallons of R.O water that I added to it and don't want to loose any.

Aquarium salt is supposed to help kill them.. other then that, vaccuuming the gravel.

I have a serious problem with them in 1 of my tanks too.. I don't overfeed and there are THOUSANDS.. I am tearing the whole tank down because I'm sick of them.

hiya

i have only been fish keeping for a year - and when i started i had the same problem...........i used to feed my fish crumbled flake - and of course bits of uneaten food are able to sttle where we cannot see and they thirve on this..........i think also that they could be introduced when adding fish if not completely aware when transferring fish as they are DEFINATELY not there when starting a new tank!!!!.

or as bacteria "just" grows in the tank when cycling - CAN PLANARIA do the same i wonder????? - and be a naturally part of the food chain???

i have bare bottom tank and only feed whole bits of flake - not even crumbled and these are to b eaten straight away and none sinking - even blood worms too!!

my angels actually eat them which is kewl!!! but changing the way i feed HAS decreased them by 75% - ut excellent water quality isa must too!!

i wantedto try to combat it before ruining my filter media with medicines and all that - and did not know how to work out concentrations of salt to increase concentration over a period.

hth's ??????????
