Places For A Pleco

ive tried bog wood, av got a big rock with bog wood for him too hide around but he doesnt seem comfortable for some reason is there anything i can do better for him too get underneath or bury himself beside.

Ceramic pleco tubes, perhaps?

They come in many sizes, and many times on plecos seem to like them!

Depends on where you live. Some good pet shops (I prefer using shops that sell only fish and aquarium equipment), or online.

Zooplus.com is a very good, german online shop, and they do shipments in Europe. Don't know about any other areas though.

most plecos do prefer to hide behind something. only because object in the tank have algae growing on them. idealy they will swin freely wherever there is algae. my pleco like to hide behind the plants and always has his tail in the bubbles from the airstone. a nice big flat bit of slate behind some plants may do it

What kind of Pleco do you have?

think it's a leapard plec or what ever there called

He is certainly a big one. It looks like it could be a leopard sailfin, but those stripes look like signs of stress. Unless you have a 6-8 foot tank then you are going to struggle to give him something to hide behind for long.

that's a oldish pic, he's sitting behind a rock at the moment hasnt got them stripes on him he hasnt had them for a while. he's in a 4ft tank at the moment that big filter has been removed aswell so there's way more room without that filter in the tank

Sounds a lot better. I would get a peice of drain pipe (new) for him to hide in. Cut it around 4 inches long ever than he is.

thats what i was thinking of doing and burying it in sand so it looks natural

That would look good. Tying moss around it would be another option.

Common/Sailfin plecs dont always hide, they are so big that they just end up injuring themselve trying to, but generally,they are happy just mooching about.

Looking at him, nose to tail tip, he is longer than the tank is wide... he needs a much bigger tank.

yeah he is 15" long, seems happy in the tank just wanting somewhere nice for him too hide if he wants too
