Pirhana And Pleco

Hi there,

I'm trying to rehome my LDA33 Snowball (5 - 6") and have been offered a tank which comes with 3 Small Pirhana (largest 4"). The Pirhana will need to be rehomed but will the Pleco be ok with the pirhana until I rehome them? Or will he be bullied?

The Piranha may well eat the pleco as soon as you add it, at the very least it getting attacked is a strong possibility

ok, will have to take the pirhana back to my lfs, do many take them?

Hi. Plecos are kept with piranha in a big display tank at Seaworld in Southend. Well they were when I last went. Both are large adults and I got talking to a guy and he told me the plecs are fine and the piranha never bother them.

its hit and miss I got 9 piranha about 5 inches andI have no doubt if a piranha was in there they;d chop him up

I;ve read all the forums about them and the general consensus is that if its in there they will eat him eventually so its your risk

They certainly have the tools to do it I;m surprised now that I keep them how sharp and strong their bite and teeth are

i kep piranhas with neons and my piranhas were about 3" and found that they wouldnt bother the neons provided they were well fed. when i missed feeding time about 10 neons dissapeared although alot of people do keep plecs with Piranhas and generally their ok. but its a risk. each piranha is different in temperment. i wouldnt risk it. you maybe ok if the Piranhas were babies and brought up with the plec but deffo wouldnt put in 4" piranhas with a plec.

thanks, not risking it, the tanks too small for pirhana anyway so told her to rehome before I buy
