i am buying a 30gal tank after christmas 32" x 29" x 14", well i believe this works out as 30 i used the chart, i was just wondering how many piranhas is reccomended to be kept in this size, if any as im getting mixed information, and if its not possible has anyone got any reccomendations to what i could stock it with to make it a nice interesting tank.
Thankyou

i would say 30 gallon is quite small for piranhas.

I take for granted you mean red bellie piranhas, the more popular ones. you need to keep them in groups of 4-5 i believe and they grow to about 8 inches and are extremely messy fish. i would say at least a 55 gallon tank for the p's

you could get puffers which are also carnivores and they have big sharp teeth as well. there are many different puffer species to consider.

otherwise, you could maybe fit in some Mbuna cichlids for coloring, although 30 gallons is a bit tight for them.

wait a sec, what kind of tank is 32 by 29?? that's massive footprint for a 30 gallon tank

its the juwel 125, the 125 being litres, but i converted it and thats how it came out =/
ok thanks for the help, ill look into puffers, but ive been reaing on here and new world chilids seem quite interesting, is that a possibility or still too small?

so that must 32 UK gallons, which works out to almost 40 US gallons :)

some cichlids will stay small enough for this tank

convicts
keyholes
rams
apistos
severum (double check this as i am not 100% on this one)
firemouth

and many more
take a look in the new world cichlid forum.

there's a pinned topic about dwarf cichlids, the fish index will also help you alot!

ok thankyou, suddenly 40 galleons doest sound so bad:) i cant really go any bigger though as im am still living with my parents so can only house them in my bedroom, any bigger and i wont fit it in!
