Hi there.
When i bought a house recently i inherited a fish tank (32 gallons). One of the fish in there was what i thought was a pink gourami. Last week i decided to go get him a little friend so i bought a baby pink gourami. But after comparing them and a little bit of research i have found the original gourami is a pink balloon. They are getting on fine at the moment but when the baby grows will they b ok together?

Cheers :good:

Gouramis are territorial fish, and not considered to be very social towards their own kind. But if you have a tank with enough hiding spots (plants, caves, rocks etc.) you should be ok with 32 gallons. Each will have enough space to lay out their own territory.

Just so you know the "pink balloon" is just a mutated form of the original kissing. They are both Helostoma temminckii. So , for compatibilty means they will be ok (like biulu said) if the tank is big enough and they are of the same size. You should know the "balloons" dont grow as large as the regular kissers, so there could be a problem down the road if the "regulars" dwarf the "Balloons."

Cheers both. Just a thought, i also have two honey gouramis in there with them, and they both 3". The balloon kisser is constantly kissing them. It doesnt seem to bother them too much but could this cause them any harm?
