It's not a big deal. The reason I asked is that if there was a weighted band, it definitely won't float. But, if you separate the stems, they will probably float much better - if that's what you are looking for. There are many others that float as well.

ahh yes, do they typically grow while floating still? (i would assume so)

btw idk if you know much about german blue rams but ive been looking and my local fish store calls them bolivian rams, my petco callse them blue rams (microgephagus ramirezi) im not sure if either is a german blue ram or if they both are?

they look close but the petco look a bit more colorful

I don't know much, but I do know that they are different.


Bolivian Ram (Microgeophagus altispinosa)

German Blue Ram (Microgeophagus ramirezi)

From what I understand, the Bolivians are a little hardier, but require a little more space to swim. The GBRs are more delicate and require a higher temp. I could be wrong, I'm far from an expert. (All my advice is second hand from an other source. )

It looks a lot better. If that is an amazon sword to the right of the cave, you might want to move that more towards the back... they can get huge. Maybe switch it with the grass stuff.

i think its a good mix of actually looking good in my room, and being a healthy environment for fish

If you want get your neons more active put some hypo fish in I.e zebra danios they bring the neons out of their shell. Tank looks nice

a bit frustrated last night i added 3 neon tetra and 1 dwarf gourami, 1 of the neons died within an hour all the others are fine, this morning i woke up to one of my sunset platy dead

checked my water and 0 ammonia .25 nitrite .5 ppm ammonia .5 ppm nitrate

now my local tap water has .50 ppm ammonia so ive been using stree coat + while doing water changes (did one yesterday)

so what should i do? anyone? thx

If your nitrite and ammonia are not at zero... do a water change...

do you think i shoudl use stress coat + to deal with the ammonia in my water supply or just regular conditioner and not worry about it ?

No harm in using something that helps keep ammonia in the least toxic form (but still makes it available for the bacteria). I would use the stress coat +, what could it hurt?

i was a little concerned that it just converted it to nitrite

No, it forms it into ammonium - which is the less toxic form of the ammonia. The bacteria will still have access to it and it will still register on an ammonia test. Out of curiosity, what is your pH? At lower pHs, ammonia becomes less toxic for fish, because the ammonia forms into ammonium.

i havent tested my ph lately from what ive heard driftwood effects it though
