Hey guys.

I've been posting quite a few questions over the last 3-4 weeks about my new tropical tank, so I thought I'd show you some pictures.

It's very artificial, not the natural look that a lot of people have gone for but I hope you like it anyway!

Thoughts and comments are welcome.

The fishless cycle is hopefully coming to an end soon.

It's going to be a community tank.

Very Nice
Lots of open space, Love the bog wood!

Can you get a full picture of the ornament on the left hand side? It looks amazing.

youngfisher - added another pic with a better view of that ornament. I love that one, I had to barter with the guy in the LFS to get it as it was in a display tank and the only one they had. Managed to get it for £30 which isn't too bad I don't think. It's hollow and has about 5 entrances so I'm hoping the fish will love it at least as much as I do!

As I said (and stonedcamel confirmed) it's not going to be everyone's idea of a nice setup as most people seem to like the more natural look - I just like the more artificial look :)

Amazing ornament

Good price aswell if you ask me :good:

I think everyone has different views on there tanks, but its yours, so its your choice my friend. :good:

Nice tank, you've obviously put a lot of care into it.

Are any of those plants live? Kind of looks like the white/green ones to the left of the wood bridge would be non-aquatic, assuming they aren't plastic. And perhaps a Val to the right of the wood?

Yeah the ones immediately to the left and right of the bogwood are real - but I'll be honest I don't know what they are called. I want to get a couple more of the ones to the right, the tallish ones - more places for the fish to hide :)

I like the balanced look that you have achieved. The tall structure on the left gives a bit of weight to that side while the pagoda and the ceramic arch on the right help balance it without being too even to look good. It is also not my cuppa, but it is nicely done for its type.
The plants to the left of the bog wood belong in a plant pot on a window sill, not in an aquarium. They may survive a month or two under water like that. The ones to the right of the bog wood arch look like they are probably some kind of vallisneria so they are a proper water plant. There are a few pictures of vals here to compare with your plant http://img.blogcu.com/uploads/alpakvaryum_..._(gigantea).jpg http://www.aquapage.cz/Obrazky/Rostliny/Va..._tortifolia.jpg http://www.tropica.dk/images/vallisneria/V...5%20typerFP.jpg

Wow really? How weird about those plants to the left of the bog wood! They are in both my LFS under water, loads of them! How annoying that they won't last long! I'll have to replace them at some point. I really like the vallisneria and want a few more in my tank.

I must admit I do like the natural looking tanks as well and I think in time I may change my layout to be more 'river-bed' looking, but for now I am dead happy with the way it has turned out (for my first attempt).

I'll have to join the "It looks nice but it's not my cup o' tea group." I like the air stone/lava rock, looks really nice. I would like see some more foreground "cover" but it looks v. nice, congrats! :good:
