Ok well i got a new camera last night (Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7) so im kinda messing arround with it and stuff at the moment, but ive got some rather shoddy pics from last night. If you want any specific pics/info, just ask :good:

And heres one of one of my two yellow tail spiny eels:

And heres another, this one hasnt coloured up half as well as the other, so im thinking its maybe collected from a differant area, or a sub-species?
Anyway, here it is:

Heres the left side of the tank, sorry about the dirty substrate, im due for a vac...

Heres the yellow tail who has coloured up real nice. You can see why their other common name is the banded spiny eel:

Oooh they are, but i notice now from the pics that the tank needs a good clean out...
Its hard cleaning the back of the tank cos i cant use the mag float, cos theres no space for my hand, so i have to go on the inside of the tank...
I need to syphon any crap out too...

Thanks, Mikey

great pics mikey, those eels look like have settled in nicely.any plans for any more fish it looks a bit bare :hey: and what is that floating on top of the water?looks like a birds nest :D

 Cane76

Does look a bit like a birds nest.

Some gorgeous pics there. Your tank looks lovely, those eels are gorgeous. Lovely setup.

:D

Lovely eels, I wouldn't mind those myself if I ever saw them :hyper:
and as mentioned, it looks quite bare. Here are some eel compatible fish that would be nice IMO...

Elephant nose
False Flying fox
Krib (don't get the krib if you get either of the above two, well, my test is going bad so far, but with the overfeeding last night they seem allright on territory now)
Stripped peacock eels if you need more eels.
African Butterfly fish

Flash/candystripe pleco.

Thanks for the kind comments guys :good:
The stuff floating on the top is some hornwort, which when my halfbeaks breed and give birth will give them a chance to hide until they go into their own separate tank.
I aggree, it does look a little bare, but im enjoying it, and i dont think ill add anything until the halfbeaks have bred (i will keep one or two of them) and ill only get some other things that are interesting.
Ive been trying to get photos of the half banded, but hes allways moving, other than when theres food arround.
The yellow tail or barred spiny eels are Macrognathus Pancalus and the half banded spiny eel is a Macrognathus Circumcinctus.
Both of their scientific names are in my profile if you need them again :good:
The only problem with adding another fish is: They need to be mid dwelling, so not to disturb the eels, or the halfbeaks, and they need to be not too small, so they dont get eaten, but not too big, so they dont eat the halfbeaks, so its quite hard to get an exact match of the two...
Ill probably wait until i see a fish that can be kept singly, and is arround 2-3" (prob some sort of pleco...)

Thanks, Mikey
