new tank looks perfect for pair and eggs. Any eggs that survive in community will eventually get picked off and eaten by other fish so need to be in own tank to survive. A sponge filter is best to raise tiny fry, when they hatch daily water changes are needed so a smaller tank makes it easier. I have used a wire mesh round my cones to stop parents eating eggs, works well. Also have baby brine shrimp or ready to use decapsulated baby brine shrimp eggs handy to feed 3-4 days after hatching, they will feed off parents before then and for a while after

With the mesh over the eggs the adults won't be able to remove the fungused eggs and it may spread to the rest...you should try and remove them if you can. A turkey baster works nicely.

In previous spawns did you try leaving a light on at night?

yeah the fungus has spread all over them, is that a sign of infertule eggs, might take the mesh of now
when i left the light on last time thats when the eggs were all eaton

weird!!! just went to remove the net and all the fungus has gone

I assume the eggs remain? Maybe the parents managed to suck the fungus off! ?

yeah about 25 eggs now, all are now the same colour aswell like a solid orange colour

Is today the third day? You should be seeing some action today if the eggs are fertile...would love to see new pics if the mesh isn't blocking the view.

i looked about a hour later after my last message and there were 8 left dunno if there hatchin ??

now none left this morning??

the other pair look like there prepairing the surface on the wood again for eggs!!

next time i shall be ready armed with a new tank lol

ive been reading on a site that this is a chemical that you can put in to help the eggs

Some people remove the eggs and use methalyne blue I believe. Still think your best bet is to put both parents into seperate tank to spawn.

there lots of fighting for space in the tank
