good luck m8 i had some wrigglers a day or two ago but then the parents couldnt resist them :(
really got my fingers crossed for ya :)
scot :)

That tank will be fine, if you use 1/3 of your existing media you should be good to go if you want to move them in there, the media should be mature enough to cope with the two parents and will multiply fairly quickly, just keep an eye on the stats and do regular water changes, alternatively, if you can get out to a craft shop like hobbycraft, you can get something called plastic canvas, it comes in different sizes and you can use it to divide the current tank enough to protect the eggs :good:

still not sure gonna try a net thing first

neally done it

i fed them as i placed it just hopeing that they dont notice lol

The idea is that the mesh stays on until they hatch and can escape and hopefully by then the parents have bonded with them and will not eat the newly hatched fry.

im hoping that they hatch in 2, 3 days time, then i will have got a step closer to my goal of raiseing the discus and the other tank will have then been running for 3 days
the filter is really noisy think i might have to rearange the media inside to try and quiet it down

in my main tank they have laid the eggs next to the air stone...
my main problem is im scared the new tank wont be stable enough to support the discus needs, im tempted to leave the tank 2 weeks and try some sort of net over the eggs to keep the head stander away..

Just get some filter media out and into the new tank.

So if you set up your new tank does that mean both pairs are going to be in their own tanks? You probably are probably going to have the best results that way.

Don't get discouraged if they eat the eggs the first few times, it's pretty common. If it becomes a habit that never goes away then you will have to separate the eggs.

the discus dont eat the eggs, dunno about wigglers as aint got that far i have not used any media form my tank just the water as i hate opening the filter coz its always a pain in the #### to start again ...

yeah will be just the two discus in the tank, when i feel the water is ready...

the discus are still fanning the eggs with the mesh , at least this way ill find out if there fertalised so touch wood ill have some wigglers and know its possable, to bred them in the future

i used to have these years ago,, get the eggs out and put them in on ther own,in the tank you have just set up. and put another cone in with the parents, they will lay again, and move them into your other tank with the others,if you dont they will eat them,if they think another fish is a threat to them eggs they will eat them, same with the young, god they gave me many a bad head years gone by,make sure you put pleny of air around the cones,as this will fan the eggs, you only need the parents to lay and fertalise, then you can take over,,best of luck,,just joined the site, and looking around, hope my post is of help, :good:

i fort the newly born eat of the parents for the first week or so :shout:

They do, which is why you will have much better luck keeping them with mom and dad.

going back 25years here ,they will feed off the parents,if you have good parents breeding pairs should be in a tank by themselfs,i dont think you will have any luck at all if you leave, them in the tank they in now, :shout: best of luck will keep a keen eye on to see how you get on

im at trial and error now so id be happy if they lasted more than 48 hours up to about 24 now id say.....
i would love it if they became wigglers, both parents are still fanning the eggs now even with the mesh around them so im confordent they wont be eaton ..
25 years ago dam thats older than me ....
