Hi all

I wonder if anyone could tell whether my Gourami is male or female. I am thinking male, however I have another almost identical, and the dorsal fins are different.

how do you tell males from females?

in honey gouramis i would just look for the fade brown line for the females, but i have no idea how to tell red honey gouramis apart?

is it that there is less of the dorsal fin?

You could do it by dorsal fin but i've heard that red honey gouramis females are a pale red colour.

I thought the easiest way to tell was the dorsal fin, the males being pointed and the females more rounded. The only thing is that I have 2 RH Gouramis and they are the exact same colour but their dorsal fins are different, one of them having a more pointed larger fin then the other. I think they are both males tho.

ok, so when i look for my red honey gouramis i look for one that is more dull in colour and has more of a dorsal fin?

That has a less of dorsal fin which is rounded and not pointed.

right got it. so red honey less of a dorsal fin, more round if a female, possibly less colour if a female.

honey gouramis, again less dorsal fin and more round if a female, and has a faint brown stripe down the center of its body if a female.
